BEST
MEMORIES OF MY HOMETOWN:
As
a carefree, playful kid playing in the streets under the moonlight, and a
very playful teenager biking from Maasin proper to Laboon along Canturing River
MY
STRENGTHS:
My
being a very practical person, decisive yet loving
MY
WEAKNESSES:
My inability to say
“NO” (maikogon) or too kind…
MY
IDEA OF WINNING PEOPLE:
To
be an ever-ready friend to everyone
I
LIKE …
Sincere,
honest, trustworthy people
I
DISLIKE …
People
who be-friends me but has hidden agenda only for his advantage
WHAT DRAWS ME TO POLITICS …
Initially
I was not keen on joining politics, but with the convincing encouragement of
family and relatives I said yes to be the Barangay Captain of Abgao…slowly as I
rose from Mayor to Governor, then now as Congressman - this has given me a high
sense of fulfillment of being able to contribute in making a positive
difference for the development of Maasin into a City and for more improvements
for Southern Leyte.
THE
BIGGEST CHALLENGE OF BEING A PUBLIC SERVANT…
EMPLOYMENT – many of our people
are applying for jobs in our government, but there are not enough positions nor
the resources to be able to back up their hiring. If only I have magic to
create jobs and give livelihood to all Southern Leyteños….
THE THINGS I WANT PEOPLE TO REMEMBER
ME ABOUT ME ….
I
want to be remembered simply as “MIAN –Friend to everyone”
WHEN
I NEED TO DE-STRESS, I USUALLY….
Go
to the farm and enjoy the natural scenery, listening to the crows of fighting
cocks
WHAT
MAKES ME ANGRY ….
Deceitful
people, people who takes advantage of others, not fair dealings
WHAT
ENCOURAGES ME ….
My
Nanay Lourdes, my children and my brothers and sisters…
DURING
MY FREE MOMENTS, I ENJOY ….
Being
with family, friends, singing videoke
ONE
THING POLITICS HAS TAUGHT ME….
There
are no permanent enemies, only permanent interests; and no matter what good
performance you have done to your people, everybody still becomes happy when
you share your material blessings with them.
THE
BEST OF ADVICE I COULD GIVE TO OTHER PUBLIC
SERVANTS –Be always sincere and
true to the promises you make with the people. And be financially ready to
be able to help the needy.
